Piano lesson 6
This week was mainly theory and we went through all the learning I had done since last lesson. So, focusing on rhythm, major chords, the circle of fifths and understanding that there is mathematics in music theory I am beginning to understand things… For the major scale anyway ;-)
The fifth note (or degree) of a the C Major scale (sequence of notes) is the beginning of the G Major scale...

Piano lessons 4 @ 5
It’s been a busy couple of weeks with the snow, a horrible cold with sinus agony and piano lessons and music theory almost taking a back seat.
Saying that, I’ve caught up this week with the understanding of the circle of fifths and finishing off with rhythm at the end of the grade 1 theory workbook. It’s interesting thinking about the variations in a simple musical theme and it...

Piano lesson 3
The third lesson was mainly performance based and working on timing, thinking of the beats, especially the last bar where I tended to drift off as it finished.

As well as thinking of...

Piano lessons week 2
The second piano lesson. I had to show what I had learnt and I was fairly good at play the woodchuck song. This week we took a look inside the piano to understand how it works. Dampers and stuff!
I could actually play the woodchuck with me eyes closed! Coordination.
We went through the finger shape and posture again as this is important. You upper arms are not supposed to move. Some of my...

Streetfighter II - remix competition →
Streetfighter II reminds me of being a lad in the 1990’s, trying to beat my friends who were all better than me at this type of game. It was so much fun though. Many samples have been made available here, including sound and voice fx, so that you can create your own tribute remix! Enjoy! :-)

Piano lessons week 1
I’ve started learning piano and music theory and want to log some of this information to look back upon.
Week 1’s lesson focused on the basics including posture and how the fingers lie on the piano keys.
My main problem to begin with is the way my fingers bend, the tips don’t bend properly, rather, they go flat. Work to be done!
For theory I had to rewrite the “How...

This is a cool keyboard for traveling. I wonder if there is a roll up USB keyboard out there somewhere. This fits the bill but might not be flexible enough to store in a rucksack.
